A Calming Vision

I created this 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" OAK mosaic on a picture frame that is 4 1/2" x 4 1/2". The look of the piece is inspired by a few men in my life that have been helpful during hard times. The grout glitter was added to enhance the light-hearted feel of the piece.

- I started dreaming in mosaics in 2001. I looked into mosaics and found Laurel True, the founder of the Institute of Mosaic Art in Oakland California. I took my first class with her in 2004 and made a stepping stone with ceramic tiles, but it wasn't the media I wanted to work in. In 2005, I took my first class in glass mosaics, and it was love at first sight. I have been working in glass ever since. I continue to take classes at IMA in mosaics and art classes at the community college nearby.
