This is my first abstract painting I did after my drawing class that I took last year. It is a collage of different parts of plants that I drew and then changed the colors to create a more abstract image.
I started dreaming in mosaics in 2001. I looked into mosaics and found Laurel True, the founder of the Institute of Mosaic Art in Oakland California. I took my first class with her in 2004 and made a stepping stone with ceramic tiles, but it wasn't the media I wanted to work in. In 2005, I took my first class in glass mosaics, and it was love at first sight. I have been working in glass ever since. I continue to take classes at IMA in mosaics and art classes at the community college nearby.
