Memories of Morro Bay

I am drawn to making trees, and I have this photo on my wall of Morro Bay that I love. So here is my expression of a combination of the photo and what it felt like to watch the sunset on the ocean as I watched every evening. It was pure heaven for me to have the ocean as my backyard for a week; I'll never forget it.

Exotic Mosaic

This is the first mosaic that I did on glass this year. I wanted to practice before I made Amber Dawn's or Africa's Mosaics. Thank goodness I did because I had forgotten that before the glue sets the glass in place it can move. The piece is just slightly off center, which has made me very careful about keeping my work level at all times. I think that sometimes a slight mistake can add something distinctive to a piece and I love the movement in this one.

A Mosaic for Africa

I created this Mosaic for my friend, Africa, who works at my chiropractor's office. Africa wanted there to be a palm tree in the mosaic, but I thought that would be impossible. I started to create a tree, and I thought I could at least try to make a palm tree. So now, Africa can escape to her own tropical isle whenever she desires.

Just the Beginning

Here is a mosaic that I created especially for Amber Dawn who is an amazing artist. She made a pretty necklace just for me and sent her mini zine , which I love! I just love surprises. Unfortunately, I had to ask her questions to get her mosaic just right for her, but I hope she is delighted with it all the same.

Summer Fun!

Summer, Vacation, Beach, Mermaids...Mermaids? I went to Pismo Beach, California, for a week of R&R. The beautiful home that we stayed in had mermaids everywhere. One was carved out of wood, a few were iron sculptures, and a few ceramic mermaids were in the gardens and on the balcony. I decided to create a miniature mermaid in glass mosaic; my favorite art form.

Finished!

Here is the finished product. I wish I had taken a picture with the painting in it but I think you can get an idea of how it would look. The stained glass that I used for this mosaic is very beautiful and felt it showcased the sea shells well. These are a few of the sea shells that David, Christi, and I collected on our walks while on our vacations by the ocean. I will be creating a few more mementos of our vacations as soon as the inspiration moves me. This mosaic is already on its way to David with much love.

Water or Outerspace?

This painting was just finished in my watercolor class last week. One of my classmates thought that it looked like water and another thought it was of outerspace...hmmm
